Style «expressionism» was spread in the late 19th-early 20th century.
Expressionism in translation from Latin means «expression». That is applying such a style in an interior each person acts as a creator, an artist, in order to express one's feelings, to convey them in the design of an apartment.
This style in the art is most brightly reflected in the culture of Germany and Austria. The basis of the style «expressionism» was a man's inner world, its expression with the help of the art. Using literary phrases or artistic images expressionists convey their emotional state, passing it on a one looking at a picture or reading this or that literary work. In an interior this style is preferred by creative, unusual persons.
The main person's aim who designed his interior in the style of expressionism, is desire to impress his guests, evoke in them even negative emotions. Expressionism - is a style more soft and romantic than the avant-garde. Easiness and picturesqueness are inherent to the expressionism, that is achieved not by the number of paintings on walls, but through the harmony of colours and combinations of light and shadow.
This is more likely a youth style, captivating by its dynamics and energy. An interior in the style of expressionism should be decorated in bright colours. Red, blue, green, lemon colours will fit. The main thing is to avoid heavy and deep tones. Colours may be as rich, bright (but not acidic), so as faded, blurred. In the expressionism it is important the presence of mood and is encouraged the presence of original details.
This style may be made and with the help of lighting: along with a «central» light set in a room lighting in the shape of beautifully executed sconces and torcheres, giving a soft light. Greenish or pinkish illumination looks great. Lampshades for lamps should be made of light materials of light colours - wicker, plastic, of fine China or cloth.
For that style is best suited plastic or wicker furniture. Plastic furniture does not at all imply presence of tables and chairs from street cafes, on the contrary, it is an expensive many-coloured furniture: cabinets, chairs and tables to which are chosen coloured, almost contrasting accessories. In such interiors plastic is used almost everywhere starting from furniture and accessories to finishing of walls and floor. And that finishing of walls should not be rough "sewing" of walls, plastic panels provide an excellent opportunity to experiment, creating new contours, shapes and images. Walls may be decorated with plastic up to half, it is possible to place panels criss-crossed, try new combinations of colours and textures.
